Drake, Other Celebs Remember Moosewala
New Delhi, May 30: Punjabi rapping sensation Sidhu Moosewala was riddled with bullets in Mansa, Punjab sending shockwaves through the music industry.
Grammy winner and rapper Drake took to Instagram to share his condolences for the late rapper-actor, posting an image of Moosewala and his mother and wrote “RIP MOOSE @sidhu_moosewala.”
The late Punjabi singer, whose real name was Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, had fought the Punjab election on a Congress ticket.
The rapper was a follower of Drake on social media and quoted the Canadian rapper, who won the 2019 Grammy for “God’s Plan”, as one of his influences.
Moosewala’s music career spanned roughly three years but he still managed to be a highly popular figure in the Punjabi music industry. He had more than 70 lakh Instagram followers, 1.93 lakh followers on Twitter, and 1.07 crore subscribers on YouTube.
Apart from Drake, influencer Lilly Singh also dedicated a post to Moosewala and wrote, “Absolutely devastating and upsetting news. To my global audience that may not be familiar, today a young legend in the Punjabi music industry was killed. If you see tribute images of him today, please don’t keep scrolling, but rather take a moment to stream the music of Sidhu Moosewala.”

Vicky Kaushal also gave his condolences and wrote a line from the singer’s song on his Instagram Stories “Dil da ni mada”.

The incident took place just a day after the Punjab Police withdrew the security of 424 VIPs, including Moosewala.
Mossewala rose to fame in 2017 with his track ‘So High’ and in 2018, his debut album was ranked 66 on the Billboard Canadian Albums Chart.
