Photo Journalist Murder Case: Unfolding Many Angles

Bhubaneswar, Mar 15: Police investigations over Cameraman Manas Kumar Swain murder case is unfolding diverged angles of the crime mystery. On the investigating police team Monday claims that Manas was brutally tortured in captivity in Bhubaneswar, which led to the former’s death.

Three persons have so far been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of the 28-year-old youth who hailed from Godipokhari village under Ranpur police limits of Nayagarh. Arrested accused are identified as Bibek Nayak, Krushna Chandra Nayak and Bhagyadhar Nayak.

According to the informations of police, “Manas Kumar Swain was a professional photographer and was earlier working with a Bhubaneswar-based web channel. Five of his former colleagues had picked him up from Chandbali and took him to Bhubaneswar.” “They held him captive in a room near the office of the web channel. When he died following brutal torture, his body was disposed of in Nayagarh”.

The Chandabali, SDPO said the three arrested persons have been forwarded to court and a manhunt was on to nab others involved in the crime.

The police also said, Manas, who had gone to Bhadrak to shoot video of a wedding ceremony, was kidnapped from Nalgunda area on February 7. When he didn’t return home, the worried family member lodged a complaint with Chandbali police on February 14.

The police had launched a probe and with the help of a scientific team, it had exhumed the decomposed body of Manas from Badhipatna village under Ranpur police jurisdiction on March 12.

The motive behind the murder have not yet disclosed by the police.
