UK Defense Minister Cancels Participation In Munich Conference
London, Feb 19: UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has canceled participation in the Munich Security conference to monitor developments of the situation around Ukraine, the UK Defence Ministry said on Saturday.
“It has been reported that the Defence Secretary is no longer attending the Munich Security Conference. The Prime Minister and the Foreign Secretary are both speaking at the conference. The Defence Secretary is staying in the UK to monitor developments in Ukraine ahead of a parliamentary appearance on Monday,” the ministry wrote on Twitter.
On Thursday, representatives of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s republics said that the Ukrainian armed forces opened fire on their positions. Ruslan Yakubov, the head of the DPR office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire, told Sputnik that Kiev violated the Minsk agreements by using prohibited mortars and artillery.
LPR envoy Rodion Miroshnik told Sputnik that by shelling the territory of the republics from heavy weapons, Kiev violated the Donbas armistice measures signed in the summer of 2020. The people’s police of the DPR stressed that artillery weapons used by the Ukrainian military in the breach of the Minsk agreements indicated Kiev’s preparations for a military solution to the situation.
