Hoshiarpur, Jul 9 : A seven-year-old daughter of a migrant labourer was allegedly raped by a youth of village Nangal Shaheedan, police said on Friday.
The incident was reported last night by the victim’s mother who said that her daughter, a fourth standard student, was alone in the house, while she along with her husband had gone for work yesterday.
During their absence, a man came to their house on a motorcycle and took the girl to a nearby field and allegedly raped her.
Later, he left the girl at her residence and escaped.
The girl has been admitted in local government hospital where she is under treatment, said police.
Investigating officer Kamlesh Kumari told that during investigation it emerged that Sarbjit Singh alias Nanu of village Nangal Shaheedan had committed the crime.
The accused had been arrested under sections 6 of POCSO Act, she added.
