MKCG Medical College Bans Students Over Ragging Incident

Bhubaneswar: The anti-ragging committee of MKCG Medical College has taken decisive action, banning four students from the campus premises. The incident, which occurred on February 9th, involved the assault of a first-year student by senior medical students.

Dean of MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Santosh Kumar Mishra, addressed the media regarding the disciplinary measures taken against the students allegedly involved in the assault. Mishra stated, “Four senior medical students were implicated in the assault of a first-year student, prompting us to take strict action against them.”

As per the committee’s decision, fourth-year students Stalin Mohapatra and Jyotiprakash Rout have been prohibited from entering the campus for a duration of two months. Additionally, they have been instructed to vacate their hostel rooms and refrain from attending classes during this period.

Similarly, two other fourth-year students, Suryakant Nayak and Ramesh Sethi, have been restricted from entering the campus for a period of two weeks due to their involvement in the ragging incident. They have also been directed to vacate the hostel premises and abstain from attending classes during this time.

The ragging incident left the first-year student with injuries to his face and neck, prompting his father to file a complaint with the Baidyanathpur police. The severity of the incident underscores the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful environment within educational institutions.
