Deadly Collision in Odisha Claims One Life and Leaves Several Injured

Bhubaneswar: A tragic collision between a speeding truck and a bus on its route from Sambalpur to Bhadrak has resulted in the loss of one life and left at least 20 individuals injured, eight of whom are in critical condition. The incident occurred near Amlang under Jamankira police limits in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Thursday morning, sending shockwaves through the local community.

The victim, identified as the helper of the bus, succumbed to the injuries sustained in the collision, adding to the somber toll of the accident.

Emergency responders swiftly mobilized to the scene, with critically injured passengers receiving initial treatment at Kuchinda Sub-District Hospital before being transferred to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla. Six of the passengers, whose conditions worsened, were admitted to VIMSAR for further medical attention.

Reports indicate that the tragedy unfolded early in the morning as the bus attempted to overtake the truck, leading to a devastating collision that left the front portion of the bus extensively damaged.

Police and Fire Services personnel promptly arrived at the scene, initiating rescue operations and providing aid to the injured passengers. Meanwhile, authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, aiming to ascertain the sequence of events and any potential factors contributing to the collision.
