Sambalpur administration bans all religious procession for a year

Sambalpur, July 21 : The Sambalpur district administration has decided not to give permission for any religious procession to any community for a year.

A decision in this regard was taken on Friday at a meeting here attended by collector Ananya Das, SP Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo, ADM, SDPO and all other senior officers of the district.
Representatives from all the communities were also present at the meeting.

The decision was taken to ensure peace in the city which had witnessed communal tension during Hanuman Jayanti Procession this year.

The meeting was held before the celebration of Muharram to discuss all pros and cons that might arise due to the procession by Muslim community where the administration took this decision.
The Muslim community has accepted the decision for the greater interest of people of all the religions since life was totally disrupted due to curfew and law and order situation in the aftermath of Hanuman Jayanti procession in the town.
