Odisha STF seizes three leopard skins, three deer skins, one held

Bhubaneswar, July 22 : The STF team of the Odisha Crime Branch has arrested a wildlife criminal from Kalahandi district and seized three leopard skins, three deer skins, and other incriminating materials from his possession. STF sources here on Saturday said, on the basis of reliable information, a team of STF conducted a raid on Friday evening at Sripali Chhaka on M Rampur-Narla, State Highway 6A, under M Rampur Police Station jurisdiction in Kalahandi district. During the raid, the STF team nabbed one Khageswar Putel (56), of Pujiladu village under the M. Rampur Police Station area of Kalahandi district. Three leopard skins and as many deer skins, among other incriminating materials, were recovered from the possession of the accused wildlife criminal. The accused has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court of JMFC, M Rampur, STF sources said. A Case U/s 379/411/120(B) IPC r/w. Sec.51 of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972, has been registered against the wildlife criminal. The seized skins, STF sources said, will be sent to Director WII, Derhadun for biological examination.
