Sambalpur Youth Killed Over Personal Enmity On Hanuman Jayanti

Sambalpur: A youth was allegedly beaten to death by some miscreants during the Hanuman Jayanti procession in Odisha’s Sambalpur district.

The youth was identified as Chandra Mirdha, a resident of Sinharigram under Burla police station limits.

The incident occurred when Chandra was coming to participate in the Hanuman Jayanthi procession. At that time, Sambalpur SP B Gangadhar had said that it was a communal murder, but now it has been ascertained that the crime was a result of personal enmity.

Police have arrested six people in connection with this murder case and prosecuted them.

The National Tribal Harijan Human Rights Commission met the family members of Chandra Mirdha and prominent people of the Harijan community on Tuesday for the ground investigation of the murder case. The six-member team was led by the Commission chief.
