Odisha Police on Friday placed three police personnel of Boudh district under suspension on charges of dereliction of duty.
The suspended officers have been identified as Baghiapada outpost officer Sanatan Pradhan and two constables-Sanjeev Pradhan and Keshab Pradhan.
The cops were accused of letting ganja smugglers go scot-free and storing the contraband at their quarters.
Later, Inspector in charge (IIC) Madhabananda was assigned to carry out an investigation. The cops were placed under suspension after they confessed to their crime.
According to sources, the accused cops recently seized around 13 kg of marijuana and a bike from two ganja smugglers, identified as Chandan Patra and Sarjit Mallick, while they were transporting the contraband on the two-wheeler.
Later, the SP suspended them after they confessed to their crime. A probe has been initiated to ascertain further details in this regard.
