Ailing Leopard Rescued From Nuapada Forest In Odisha, Dies

Nuapada: A piroplasmosis-infected leopard that was undergoing treatment succumbed to its infection in Odisha’s Nuapada district on Tuesday morning.

Notably, a big cat was suffering from sunstroke, was rescued and revived by forest and veterinary officials in the Nuapada district on Sunday morning.

The matter came to the fore after villagers spotted the leopard withering around in pain this morning and informed the Forest department. They also clicked his pictures and recorded videos on find that it looked ill and was unable to walk. They suspected that it might have fallen ill after killing and devouring a cow near this village.

Veterinarians and researchers were closely monitoring its condition. Unfortunately, the leopard allegedly did not avail of better treatment despite the suggestion of the veterinarians to shift the big cat to some place having better health facilities for animals. The Forest Department officials reportedly were unwilling to send the leopard outside Nuapada for treatment.
