Odisha: Former Deputy Director of Textbook press convicted in a disproportionate asset case

Bhubaneswar, Dec 27 : The Special Judge, Special Court, Bhubaneswar on Wednesday convicted the former Deputy Director of Textbook press for possessing disproportionate assets of Rs.10,37,965.
The court sentenced P K Chhotray ,Ex-Deputy Director Production & Maintenance, Textbook Press to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for a period of two years and to pay a fine of Rs.2 lakh.
In default of payment of fine, the convict would further undergo RI for 6 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of PC Act, 1988.
Chhotray was earlier chargesheeted by Odisha Vigilance which will now move the competent authority for stoppage of his pension following his conviction.
Meanwhile, Saroj Kanta Mohanty, Chief General Manager (P&A), IDCO, Bhubaneswar was arrested on Wednesday for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 153 percent of his known sources of income.
Mohanty was forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar after the Vigilance department registered a case against him and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 P.C. Amendment Act, 2018.
