Odisha Home Minister Refutes Allegation Of Shielding Archana Nag

Bhubaneswar: Minister of State for Home, Tusharkanti Behera, on Monday refuted the allegations of the opposition that the government is sheilding sextortion scandal accused Archana Nag.

In reply to an ajournment motion in the Odisha Assembly, Behera said that the State Government has never shielded criminals. Law is above all. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has always emphasised on the rule of law.

He said that whoever may be the criminal, or how powerful he or she may be, action has been taken against him or her by the State government as per law.

In the case of Archana Nag, case number 646 had been registered at Nayapalli Police Station on September 29 based on a written complaint of Akshay Parija.

Similarly, case number 496 had been registered at Khandagiri Police Station on October 02 based on the complaint of Shradhanjali Behera and the investigation is underway.

During the investigation, Archana and her husband Jagabandhu Chand were arrested in connection with the above cases on October 06 and 12 respectively and forwarded to court.
