Police Seize 46 Bottles of Cough Syrup and Arrest Three In Balangir

Bhubaneswar: Balangir police on Wednesday seized 46 bottles of cough syrup and arrested three persons for allegedly selling it illegally in Khaprakhol and Patnagarh areas of the district.

A police team, led by IIC Ramakant Sahu, received a tip-off and conducted a raid at Dhandamuda village, where they arrested Ranadhir Panika for selling cough syrup illegally. Anand Patel from Patimal village was also arrested in connection to the case.

Upon interrogation, the duo informed the police that Ramesh Bag of Phatamunda village in the Patnagarh police station area had been supplying them with the cough syrup. Ramesh Bag was subsequently arrested as well.

In addition to the 46 bottles of cough syrup, the police also seized 10 intoxicating tablets, Rs 1,300 cash, and a motorcycle from the suspects.

The police believe that the accused were selling the cough syrup to individuals who used it as an alcoholic drink. The suspects have been sent to court and an investigation is ongoing.
