Popular Odia actor Pintu Nanda passes away

Breaking news! Ollywood popular actor Pintu Nanda passed away on Wednesday night while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was 47.

Suffering from liver cirrhosis, the actor was admitted to a Bhubaneswar-based hospital on February 1. On February 7, he was flown to New Delhi and was admitted to the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS). Meanwhile, a family member was supposed to donate liver to him. But that couldn’t be materialised due to mismatching of blood groups and other reasons.

The actor received help from his fans and the Ollywood industry when he needed a huge amount of money for a liver transplant. However, he lost his life before he could go through the liver transplant.

According to sources, a family member was supposed to donate liver to Nanda, but that did not work out due to mismatch of blood group. The actor breathed his last at around 11.25pm last night,  Actor Sritam Das Twitted on Wednesday.

Nanda, who had debuted in ‘Koili’ movie, later acted in several successful movies such as ‘Wrong Number’, Premarutu Asilare, Dosti, among many others. His superhit album ‘Gaurare…’ has kept his flawless acting skills engraved in people’s memory.

His demise has left his fans and the entire Odia entertainment industry in shock. While Social media is flooded with condolence messages, veterans from the cine industry expressed grief at the passing of the actor.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took to his Twitter handle to express his grief over the death of actor Pintu Nanda and said, “Deeply shocked to hear about the demise of Odia film industry’s popular actor Pintu Nanda. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all cine lovers. I express my condolences to the bereaved family. May the departed soul rest in peace.”
