Pakistani Rupee Hits Historic Low

Islamabad, July 19: The Pakistani rupee shattered all previous records on Tuesday, falling to a new low of Rs 222 against the dollar.

According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the greenback was up Rs 8.8, or 4 per cent, against the previous day’s close of Rs 215.20 to reach Rs 224 around 2:30 pm, Dawn newspaper reported.

It closed at Rs 221.99, appreciating 3.1 per cent, according to the State Bank of Pakistan.
It was the highest day-on-day depreciation after June 26, 2019 when the Pakistani currency fell by Rs 6.80.
