Notorious Gangster Suresh Pujari Sent To Police Custody

Mumbai, Jan 22: The Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Mumbai Police on Saturday invoked the Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act against gangster Suresh Pujari in several cases of murder, attempt to murder and extortion and sent him to police custody till January 29.

ATS took custody of Pujari, who was held by the Anti-Extortion Cell of the police in connection with a demand for Rs 50 lakh made to a businessman. The man received threatening calls from unknown international numbers and continued getting such threats even after he approached the police.

Six people, including a minor, were arrested earlier in the case. They were also involved in another extortion case registered at Ulhasnagar in neighbouring Thane district. Pujari has 17 cases registered against his name in Mumbai.
Cases had been registered against gangsters Ravi Pujari and Suresh Pujari in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai among other places.
