Five get lifer in 7-year-old murder case

Mathura (UP), July 16 : Five persons, including four brothers, were sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court in Mathura on Saturday.
According to prosecution sources on February 28, 2015 Tulsidas alias Tole Baba, was shot dead by Rakesh alias Ranga, Mukesh alias Billa, their brothers Neeraj, Kamesh alias Chini and one Pradeep alias Gulgula. “An FIR was lodged by Rakesh Chaturvedi in this connection at Kotwali police station,” they said.
The defence counsel argued that as all the accused were youth and underage they should be given less punishment. However Assistant District Government Counsel Raju Singh argued that it was heinous crime committed in the broad day light therefore the accused should be accorded with capital punishment.
On the basis of evidence available on record, Additional District and Session Judge Harendra Prasad sentenced them to life imprisonment. The court directed to send a warrant to Rakesh, Mukesh, Neeraj and Kamesh, who are currently lodged in the district jail.
On the orders of the court Pradeep alias Gulgula was taken into judicial custody and sent to jail.
