Brahmapur, Jul 17 : The Ichhapur police of Andhra Pradesh on Friday busted an inter-State ganja smuggling racket along the Odisha-AP border. In a surprise search operation, the police found 900 kg of the contraband stacked in 180 bags and hidden under 120 peanut bags. Police said the cost of the seized contraband would be approximately Rs 36 lakh. Three accused, who were arrested in this connection, were forwarded to court.
A senior police officer said that while patrolling police team found a mini truck with number TB-13 -AW- 8126 near the old tollgate on its way from the Koraput-AP boarder to Bihar. and after through search hemps of such large quantity traced.
The arrested three persons were identified as Balvindar of Punjab, Santosh Kumar Singh of Bihar and Sushil Kumar Singh of Uttar Pradesh.
