UP: Wing Commander Prithvi Singh Cremated

Agra: Amidst the chants ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Jab tak suraj chand rahega, Prithvi Singh tera naam rahega”, the city of Taj Mahal bid farewell to its brave Wing Commander Prithvi Singh Chauhan here on Saturday. Prithvi Singh was cremated with full state honors at Tajganj Mokshadham at around 2.30 pm on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier, the Air Force gave him a guard of honor at the funeral site. Prithvi’s eight-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter lit the fire to the pyre of their father. Wing Commander Prithvi Singh was a resident of Saran Nagar in Dayalbagh. Along with CDS Bipin Rawat, he too was killed in a helicopter crash on Wednesday last. However his body of reached Agra three day late. Family members informed that due to DNA test being carried out there was delay in arrival of the body.

The funeral procession was taken out from the martyr’s house in Saran Nagar via MG Road, in which thousands of people participated. In the last journey, the slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Vande Mataram, Prithvi Singh Amar Rahe kept resonating.

The body of Wing Commander Prithvi Singh, who was martyred in the helicopter crash, reached Kheria Airport on Saturday morning at around 10.30 am. Union Minister SP Singh Baghel, Air Commanding Officer AOIC SK Verma and Para Commando and Special Forces personnel gave their last farewell with military honors at the airport.
