Rhea Mahanta wins the coveted Youth Carnegie Peace Prize for 2021

Indian daughter added a feather to her cap as Rhea Mahanta, a resident of Guwahati, has been conferred with,’ the coveted Youth Carnegie Peace Prize for 2021’. Daughter of Saurav Mahanta and Dr. Neelakshi Mahanta, Rhea has bagged the award for her Peace Building Project.

The ceremony was hosted by The International Court of Justice, Peace Palace, ‘The Hague’ – the royal capital in the Netherlands.

Rhea was awarded for her Peace Building project and the organizers quoted,  “We are pleased  to announce the recipient of the Carnegie Youth Peace Prize for 2021!” Rhea Mahanta’s Peace Building Project! Congratulations. “

The Carnegie Youth recognizes the work of young peacemakers in post-conflict circumstances, with the purpose of inspiring and motivating others to start their own initiatives.

Rhea Mahanta will serve as a Carnegie Foundation – Peace Palace Youth Ambassador for the following two years. Rhea Mahanta works with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan as a UN Volunteer Civil Affairs Officer (UNMISS).
