New Delhi, Jul 8 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that India’s fight against the global pandemic is underway with full vigour.
Chairing a meeting of Council of Ministers after the mega rejig on Wednesday, he said, “As ministers, our aim should not be to instill fear but to request people to keep taking all possible precautions so that we are able to move beyond this pandemic in the times to come”.
According to the sources,he said that with the powered by our COVID warriors and frontline workers, the people across the country are getting vaccinated in substantial numbers whereas the testing has also been consistently high.

Noting that there should be no space for carelessness or complacency, the Prime Minister said, “A single mistake would have far-reaching impacts and weaken the fight to overcome COVID-19”.

The sources also said that the PM Modi cautioned that everyone must remember – the threat of COVID-19 is far from over. Many other nations are seeing surges in infections and above all the virus is also mutating, he added.
He also said that with the numbers of Covid cases coming down in the country in the recent weeks and now, people may want to venture out but they must adhere to the Covid protocol and appropriate behaviour at all times.
Mr Modi also expressed concern at the persistently high number of cases coming from Maharashtra and Kerala, the sources further said.
Prime Minister had held the meeting of the Council of Ministers last month to discuss the Covid-19 situation in the country wherein he asked the ministers to create an environment where people follow Covid-appropriate behaviour and speed up the vaccination drive.
