New Delhi, May 31: The Congress on Monday slammed the AAP government over the brutal killing of famous Punjabi singer and party leader Sidhu Moosewala by unidentified gunmen, and demanded an inquiry by a sitting Judge of High Court besides investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the incident.
Address a press conference at the party headquarters here, Congress MP Shaktisinh Gohil said, “Nothing is more valuable than life of a human being. Therefore, ensuring safety of life is very important. Yesterday, the incident which happened, it is that due to mistake of the state government for a publicity stunt, a youth icon of the country, Sidhu Moosewala was killed.”
“Anyone who getS security is because there is threat. There should not be any publicity when the security cover is reduced. But Why the AAP in its social media did publicity on curtailing of security of Sidhu Moosewala? A thing which should remain confidential why it was used for publicity,” he said.
He asked the AAP government in Punjab on what assessment, Moosewala’s security was reduced.
“We demand an inquiry by sitting Judge of High Court besides investigation by, the CBI or NIA into the incident,” the Congress MP said.
Earlier in the day, the Delhi unit of Congress led by its president Ch Anil Kumar staged a protest outside the residence of Chief Minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal, demanding dismissal of the AAP government in Punjab over the killing of Moosewala.
“There is ‘jungle raj’ in Punjab. We are demanding dismissal of the kathputli(puppet) government in Punjab,”
Chaudhary told reporters here.
Attacking the AAP government in Punjab over curtailing his security cover, the Delhi Congress chief said,” Why was Moosewala’s security’s cover cut down ? He was an inspiration to the youth of Punjab. Just for ‘image’ building, the Mann-led government withdrew the security cover of 424 prominent people.”
Choudhary also claimed that by doing so, the AAP government is giving a message to the criminals and the result was the brutal killing of Moosewala.
Moosewala was shot dead, while his two friends were injured, after unknown gunmen sprayed bullets at them in Jahawarke village of Mansa district on Sunday.
