Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident in the Laxmisagar area of Bhubaneswar, a 25-year-old youth, identified as Anjan Behera, met a gruesome end following a violent altercation stemming from a love triangle. The harrowing incident unfolded in the early hours, shaking the community and prompting a swift response from authorities.
Anjan Behera, a resident of Chintamaniswar under the Laxmisagar police limits, found himself at the center of a deadly confrontation fueled by jealousy and resentment. According to eyewitnesses, the altercation took a fatal turn when Anjan, along with his friend Gautam Sahoo, encountered the prime accused, Pinku, and five others, including a girl, at around 1:45 a.m. on Saturday.
Gautam Sahoo, recounting the chilling events, stated, “Pinku and I had agreed to meet in Chintamaniswar, but the situation quickly escalated into violence. Without warning, Pinku brandished a sword and launched a vicious attack on Anjan. Despite my efforts to intervene, Pinku and the others relentlessly assaulted Anjan, leading to his tragic demise.”
Sources revealed that Pinku, a known criminal with a history of violence, had been involved in a relationship with a girl from Chintamaniswar for several years. However, tensions arose when Gautam, a bartender, formed a friendship with Pinku’s girlfriend, sparking jealousy and animosity in Pinku’s heart.
“On Friday evening, Pinku summoned Gautam for a discussion near his girlfriend’s residence. Unbeknownst to Gautam and Anjan, the meeting would spiral into a deadly confrontation,” explained Inspector In-Charge P. Shyam Sundar Rao of Laxmisagar police station.
The heated argument quickly escalated into a violent assault, with Pinku and his accomplices wielding sharp-edged weapons against Anjan. Despite efforts by locals to intervene and rush Anjan to the hospital, he succumbed to his grievous injuries.
As the community reels from the shock of this senseless tragedy, authorities are actively pursuing the absconding accused individuals to ensure justice for Anjan Behera and his grieving loved ones. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by unresolved conflicts and the need for peace and understanding in relationships.
