Bhubaneswar: The tranquil village of Machua in Nilagiri block, Odisha, was shaken by the discovery of two bodies floating in an abandoned quarry on Friday morning. The grim find comes nearly five days after the mysterious disappearance of two young men from Kansa village in Balasore district.
Although the identities of the deceased individuals remain unconfirmed, authorities suspect that the bodies may belong to Bhabani Shankar (22) and Manoranjan (21), who went missing on February 5. The families of the two youths have been grappling with uncertainty since their sudden disappearance, desperately hoping for their safe return.
According to reports, the two friends had set out from their homes, informing their families that they were headed to Mitrapur. However, as the hours passed and night descended, concern grew among their loved ones when there was no sign of their return. Attempts to reach them via phone proved futile as both of their mobile devices were switched off.
The situation took a distressing turn the following day when locals stumbled upon the youths’ two-wheeler and blood-stained footwear near the water body. Fearing the worst, the families wasted no time in alerting the authorities and filing a report with the police, alleging foul play and suspected murder.
The discovery of the bodies has heightened tensions in the community, prompting widespread speculation and conjecture about the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. As investigations continue and autopsies are conducted to determine the cause of death, the village of Machua is left reeling from the shock and mourning the loss of two promising young lives.
