Premananda Nayak, BJD MLA from Telkoi, Resigns from Party Membership

Bhubaneswar: Premananda Nayak, the prominent Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA representing Telkoi constituency in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, has announced his resignation from the primary membership of the party. The legislator made this announcement on Friday, marking a significant development in Odisha’s political landscape.

Nayak disclosed that he had officially tendered his resignation letter to BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, as well as to the party’s organizational secretary Pranab Prakash Das, via email back in October of the previous year.

Having secured victories in the Assembly elections of both 2009 and 2019 under the banner of the BJD, Nayak’s decision to step down from the party membership carries considerable weight. Notably, he had also served as the Minister of Skill Development and Technical Education during the fifth term of Naveen Patnaik’s tenure.

While the specific reasons behind Nayak’s departure from the BJD remain undisclosed, his resignation marks a significant development within the political landscape of Odisha. As speculation swirls regarding the implications of Nayak’s decision, attention now turns to the potential ramifications for both the BJD and the broader political dynamics in the region.
