Bhubaneswar, Sept 26 : From the clay idol of the mother to the attractive toran and puja mandap decoration, everything is in its final stages, but the weather department’s predictions have made everyone sleepless.

According to the Regional Meteorological Center, the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal will turn into a depression and cross the coastal areas of South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh by Saturday.

Under the influence of this depression, the state will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next three days. The regional weather center has issued a warning that the amount of rainfall will be especially high in South and Coastal Odisha.

In the last 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall has been recorded across the state, with Nuapada recording the highest rainfall of 81.8 mm.

An orange warning has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall with lightning and thunder at one or two places in Koraput and Malkangiri districts. At this time, the wind speed is 40-50 km per hour. It has been informed that the wind will blow at a speed of 60 km.

Similarly, a yellow warning has been issued for Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khordha, Kandhamal, Balasore, Nayagarh districts. There is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at some places in other districts. Keeping all these possibilities in mind, the state’s Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has discussed with the District Magistrates of 18 districts through video conferencing and reviewed the preparedness to deal with possible situations.

The faces of the city’s puja committees are now worried. If such heavy rain is falling during the puja, then how will people come to the mandap? It is expected that the pomp of the puja will fade without the gathering of the audience.
