Odisha’s OUPP Programme: Empowering Youth Through Skill Development and Employment
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Up-skilling & Placement Programme (OUPP) under the leadership of Chairman Kartik Pandian and the 5T Initiative has achieved remarkable success. Interacting with 181 trainees at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Pandian highlighted the program’s objective of providing skill development in advanced information technologies along with 100% placement assistance.
The OUPP, following the Recruit, Train, and Deploy (RTD) approach, has been instrumental in selecting job aspirants with BTech, MCA, and MSc degrees, particularly from economically weaker backgrounds, from across the state. A notable aspect of the program is its commitment to gender equality, with equal representation of male and female students in the training program.
Under this initiative, three state-of-the-art modern IT labs equipped with advanced technologies were established to impart comprehensive training. Tech Mahindra was selected as the technical partner of the program, while Tata Steel Foundation provided skilling support and CSR assistance.
The success of the OUPP is exemplified by the fact that all trainees have been successfully placed in Tech Mahindra, with an annual package of Rs 4.25 LPA. Representatives from Tech Mahindra and Tata Steel Foundation lauded the efforts of the Odisha government, led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, for fostering such partnerships aimed at youth empowerment and employment.
Chairman Kartik Pandian expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the first batch and emphasized the program’s role as a dream project under the 5T Initiative. He announced plans to expand and scale up the program, with the commencement of the next batch imminent. Pandian reiterated the government’s commitment to providing the best training and placement services to the state’s educated and talented youth.
The trainees, in turn, expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Chairman Kartik Pandian for the government’s support and the opportunity to be part of the program. They expressed immense happiness at securing placements in a reputed company like Tech Mahindra, attributing their success to the innovative steps taken by the government in skill development and employment generation.
The OUPP stands as a testament to Odisha’s commitment to nurturing its youth by providing them with the necessary skills and opportunities for a brighter future. Through initiatives like these, the state continues to pave the way for inclusive growth and development, ensuring that its youth are equipped to contribute meaningfully to society and the economy.
