Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Launches LAccMI Bus Scheme to Enhance Rural Connectivity in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Location Accessible Multimodal Initiative (LAccMI) Bus Scheme in Deogarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal districts of Odisha through a virtual ceremony. The scheme aims to address communication challenges in rural areas and improve accessibility for villagers.

During the launch, Chief Minister Patnaik reiterated the government’s commitment to serving the people of Odisha. He emphasized the importance of listening to the concerns of the citizens and implementing initiatives that address their needs effectively.

The LAccMI Bus Scheme, which was initially piloted in Malkangiri, has now been extended to several districts across the state. With the inclusion of Balangir, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh, a total of 14 districts are now covered under the scheme.

The scheme will deploy 301 buses across 1,340 panchayats in the newly added districts, benefiting over 8.3 million people. These buses will provide crucial connectivity from Panchayat to Block levels, facilitating easier access to essential services and markets for villagers.

Under the LAccMI Bus Scheme, Mission Shakti members have been entrusted with the management of the buses. This initiative aligns with the government’s 5T initiative, focusing on transparency, efficiency, and accountability in governance.

Chief Minister Patnaik emphasized the transformative impact of the LAccMI Bus Scheme on rural life. He highlighted its role in strengthening the village economy and improving the livelihoods of residents.

In addition to enhancing rural connectivity, the Chief Minister also announced other development projects across various districts of Odisha. These projects include the inauguration of the Gangadhar Meher Irrigation Project and Cancer Hospital, development work at the birthplace of Pandit Raghunath Murmu, and funding for the transformation of temples and churches.

The LAccMI Bus Scheme represents a significant step towards bridging the gap between urban and rural areas in Odisha. By providing reliable and affordable transportation services, the scheme aims to empower villagers and contribute to the state’s overall development.

As the LAccMI Bus Scheme becomes operational in more districts, it is expected to further improve the quality of life for rural communities and strengthen their connection to the broader economy.
