Delhi Police Expand Probe: Two More Detained in Parliament Security Breach Case as Crime Scene Recreation Planned

New Delhi, Dec 15: The Delhi Police, after arresting Lalit Jha on Thursday night in connection with the December 13 Parliament security breach case, have detained two more persons identified as Mahesh and Kailash, according to sources. The Special Cell of Delhi Police is also planning to recreate the crime scene outside Parliament on Friday to understand how the individuals managed to enter the Lok Sabha with smoke canisters.

Jha, who surrendered at Kartavya Path police station in New Delhi District, was handed over to the Special Cell for further investigation. He is set to be produced before the court. On Thursday, a Delhi court granted seven days’ police custody for four accused persons arrested in connection with the Parliament security breach case.

The case, involving Jha and others, registered at Parliament Street police station, includes charges under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 452 (trespassing), 153 (provocation with intent to cause a riot), 186 (obstructing public servants in the discharge of public functions), and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servants from duty) of the IPC, along with sections 16 and 18 of UAPA.

During court proceedings, the prosecution asserted that the arrested individuals, labeled as terrorists, orchestrated a well-planned attack on Parliament with the intention of inciting fear. The police informed the court that Sections 16 (terrorism) and 18 (conspiracy for terrorism) of the UAPA Act have been included in the charges against the accused.
