Tragedy Strikes at Eden Gardens: 21-Year-Old Odisha Youth Found Hanging

Kolkata: A 21-year-old youth from Odisha was discovered hanging at the gallery of Block-K in Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on a fateful Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Dhananjay Barik, the son of a Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) employee.

Dhananjay, who had aspirations of following in the footsteps of his father and uncle by securing a job as a groundsman at Eden Gardens, faced mounting frustration as uncertainty shrouded his employment prospects. Reports suggest that the young man had come to Kolkata with the hope of securing a position at the iconic cricket ground, only to find himself grappling with the uncertainty of his appointment.

On Sunday afternoon, Dhananjay went missing, prompting his worried family to lodge a complaint at the Maidan police station in the evening. The distressing turn of events reached a devastating conclusion as his lifeless body was discovered at the upper tier of Block-K in the stadium gallery the following morning.

Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that Dhananjay was under acute mental stress, a factor that could have driven him to take such a drastic and tragic step. The uncertainty surrounding his employment dream may have weighed heavily on the young man, leading to a sense of despair.
