Thunderstorm ‘Yellow Warning’ in Odisha; alert for these districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a warning of rain or thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind at several places in coastal and interior Odisha on Sunday and Monday.

The wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places in 13 districts of Odisha till 8.30 am on Monday. The districts that are likely to be affected are Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh and Khurda. Yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning has also been issued for remaining districts of the state.

The Met has forecast that many places in Odisha are likely to witness rain for the next four days. The impact of westerly disturbance will be felt in Odisha from Sunday. Various districts of south and coastal Odisha will be affected due to the phenomenon.

The yellow warning continues for the next two days.

On March 27, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely at one or two in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar. Light to moderate rain or thundershower may also occur at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada and Balangir.
