Sundergarh District Court Awards 20 Years Jail Term To Three Gang-Rape Convicts Each

Sundergarh: The district court and Circuit Judge in Sundergarh sentenced 20 years of rigorous imprisonment to three persons for gang-raping a widow woman in a moving car.

The convicts have been identified as Sonu Soi, Indru Kerketa, and Pravin Barla.

The Court of Sundargharh District and Sessions Judge also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each while awarding the jail term for the convicts, Sonu Soi, Indru Kerketa, and Pravin Barla.

In case of non-payment of the fine amount, the convicts will have to undergo additional imprisonment of two months.

According to case details, the incident occurred on November 29, 2015. The accused persons offered lift to the survivor while she was returning home in Rajgangpur police station limits and outraged her modesty in a moving car and later dropped her on the roadside near her house.

The court pronounced the verdict after examining the statements of 21 witnesses and other evidence during trial.
