STF arrest a wildlife criminal in Odish

Bhubaneswar, Sep 30: A team of STF has apprehended a wildlife criminal from Kalijharan village under Deogaon Police station of Bolangir district and recovered one Live Pangolin along with other incriminating materials from his possession.

STF sources here on Saturday said acting on a tip off a raid was conducted

with the help of Forest Officials of Bolangir Forest Division near Bidighat Chhaka under Deogaon P.S of Bolangir District on Friday and apprehended one wildlife criminal —Sebak Dharua of : Kalijharan, village Under Deogaon police station of Bolangir distrct.

During search one Live Pangolin and other incriminating materials were recovered from his possession.

A case U/s 379/411 IPC r/w. Sec.51 of Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 has been registered and the accused person will be forwarded to the Court of SDJM, , Bolangir.

The Live Pangolin has been handed over to DFO, Bolangir for safe custody. Investigation is going on.

The Indian pangolin is a schedule-I protected animal under Wild Life Protection act, 1972.
