Robbers Kill Woman After Looting Jewellery In Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur, May 7: In a horrific incident, a woman was reportedly stoned to death and her gold ornaments were stolen away by miscreants in Rambha area of Ganjam district last night.

The incident occurred in a cashew forest near Jahami under Rambha police station limits in the district. The deceased woman has been identified as Puni Nahak of Jahami village.

According to information, the woman had gone to the nearby cashew jungle to collect mangoes in the evening. But she didn’t return home until late in the evening. Her body was found lying with deep injury marks on the head in the jungle. She was declared dead by doctors in a hospital later in the night.

While the incident has shocked villagers, locals have expressed resentment saying police are not taking any action even though the incidents of looting have been on the rise for many days now.

Latest reports said the local police have sent the body for postmortem and started an investigation.
