Junior national kho kho player from Odisha’s Keonjhar district Manika Nayak allegedly committed suicide in her house on Thursday. The reason of the suicide is yet to be ascertained.
According to reports, Manika’s family members found her hanging from the ceiling of her room yesterday morning. They rushed Manika to the Jhumpura hospital but doctors attending her declared the girl brought dead.
The deceased Kho Kho player has been identified as Manika Nayak of Nayadhanurjayapur under Baria Police limit in the district. She was a student of +2.
On being informed, police went to the hospital and seized the body. They have registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body for post-mortem. While the police did not ascertain the cause of death, Manik’s family has also not revealed anything in this regard to the media.
The Baria police are investigating the incident and have lodged a case (No. 6/2023) in this connection.
Manika was a Plus II student of Ukhunda College and a promising kho kho player. She was part of the national junior women’s kho kho team and represented Odisha in the national junior tournament in Jharkhand. She played a major role in making her team victorious.
