Maoists Gun Down Ex-Sarpanch In Odisha’s Kandhamal

Kandhamal: Late last night, outlawed Maoist cadres reportedly shot dead a former Sarpanch of Sumerbad village under Firingia police station limits in Odisha’s Kandhamal district of Odisha.

The former sarpanch was identified as Subal Kaher, was working as a contractor. According to reports, a KKBN Maoist called the Sarpanch from his house and killed him by shooting at him. About ten armed militants have carried out the murder, said reports.

Upon being informed, police reached the spot and initiated an investigation in this regard.

Though the exact reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the killing may have taken place to revenge the death of three cadres in the encounter yesterday.
