Bhawanipatna: in a case of murder, a woman and her three sons were awarded life imprisonment after being convicted by the Additional District and Sessions Judge, Dharamgarh on Saturday. They were convicted of murdering a man over a land dispute in Kalahandi’s Atigaon village in 2018.
The court has also levied a fine of Rs 50,000 each on all four accused. In case of non-payment of the fine, the jail term will be increased by one year.
Chayakanta was an employee at the Revenue Inspector’s (RI) office at Atigaon in Dharamgarh. He had objected to an illegal construction near the RI office which was carried out by the mother and her three sons.
The family of Kuchita nursed a grudge against Chayakanta and murdered him brutally. Following the incident local police had registered a case and arrested Kuchita and her three sons on charges of murder.
