Jharsuguda MLA Deepali Das To Take Oath Today

Bhubaneswar: Newly elected Jharsuguda MLA Dipali Das is all set to take oath today. The deputy speaker of the Odisha assembly will administer her the oath of the office. Yesterday, she met the Ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

According to sources, Dipali’s swearing is scheduled at 10:45 am.

It is worth mentioning here that Dipali along with her brother Bishal Das met Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo at Naveen Niwas on Sunday evening and sought his blessings.

Dipali Das, won the byelection by a strong margin of 48619 votes. She defeated her nearest BJP rival Tankadhar Tripathy.

The most remarkable fact is that she broke the record of the vote margin of her slain father Naba Das. Her father had won by a margin of 45699 votes in 2019 Assembly elections from Jharsuguda. This byelection had to be conducted because of the murder of Naba Das by a police ASI.

Patnaik also took to his Twitter handle and wrote about her meeting with Dipali. “I met BJD candidate Dipali Das who got a historic victory in the Jharsuguda by-poll and advised her to lead the development of Jharsuguda and work dedicatedly to bring change in people’s lives.”

It is to be noted here that Deepali Das registered a landslide victory in the bypoll to Jharsuguda Assembly constituency with a margin of 48,721 votes from nearest rival Tankadhar Tripathy of the BJP.
