Bhubaneswar: An elephant suffering from an illness passed away in the Galeri forest area of Bhanjanagar North Ghumusar in Ganjam district on Wednesday morning.
The elephant was seen roaming alone in the forest for several days and was unable to eat after being tranquilized and treated by a veterinary doctor from Nandankanan.
The doctor determined that the elephant had an infection in its mouth for about a month. It died on Wednesday morning despite efforts from the Forest department.
