Thunderstorm & Lightning Alert Issued For Several Odisha Dists

The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) Regional Centre, Bhubaneswar on Thursday said the cyclonic circulation over interior Odisha and adjoining parts of Chhattisgarh extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level has become less marked.

As per the latest bulletin, the alert has been issued at one or two places in Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts of Odisha during the next few days.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is forecast at one or two places in Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts, while dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the state, it added.

The IMD’s weather forecast for Odisha during next three days is as follows:

Day 1

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha till 8.30 am of Friday.

Day 2

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha from 8.30 am of Friday to 8.30 am of Saturday.

Yellow Warning (To be updated)

Thunderstorm with lightening is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore during the same period.

Day 3

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khordha, Nayagarh, Kandhamal and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha from 8.30 am of Saturday to 8.30 am of Sunday.

There will be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) in the State during next 4-5 days, the IMD predicted.
