Forest Range Officer Arrested for Possessing Disproportionate Assets

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials arrested a forest range officer from Sundargarh district on Thursday night for allegedly accumulating wealth beyond his known sources of income.

The accused, Sangram Keshari Manihira, forest range officer of Ujjalpur, was forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh, for possessing disproportionate assets and was placed in jail custody until January 25.

A case was previously registered against Manihira and his spouse under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

During raids on Manihira’s properties, officials discovered multiple assets, including buildings, plots, cash, and jewellery, that were registered in Manihira’s and his family’s names. The total value of these assets was found to be 188% higher than his known sources of income.
