FIH Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup 2022-23 Kicks Off From Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: The 15th edition of the Hockey World Cup, named the FIH Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup 2022-23, will begin at the Kalinga Stadium on January 13th with a match between Argentina and South Africa. Host India will also play Spain at the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela on the same day.

India, particularly Odisha, is hosting the championship for the second consecutive time. In the last edition in 2018, Belgium emerged as the winner and Netherlands as the runner-up. Australia, a three-time champion, came in third place.

A total of 16 teams are participating in the tournament and have been divided into four groups of four teams each. The top team from each group will progress to the quarterfinals, while the second and third-placed teams will play in a crossover round. The winner of the crossover round will advance to the quarterfinals.
