2022 is almost over and this year, we lost many of the eminent celebrities. The Odia entertainment industry lost some noted artistes  in 2022 and their absence has created a void that can never be filled.

Following is a list of the famous personalities who breathed their last in 2022!

 Veteran odia actor Mihir Das:  Veteran Odia actor Mihir Das breathed his last at a private hospital in Cuttack city on January 11, 2022. He was undergoing treatment for kidney-related ailments for about a month.

In his career spanning over three decades, Das won the Best Actor award from the state government for his performance in Laxmi Protima in 1998 and Pheria Mo Suna Bhauni in 2005. However, it was Pua Mora Bholashankar, which propelled him to stardom.

 Odia actor and Jatra artist Raimohan Parida: Popular Odia actor and Jatra artist Raimohan Parida was found dead in mysterious circumstances.  As per the reports, he was found hanging at his residence at Prachi Vihar, Bhubaneswar.

Born on July 10, 1963, Raimohan Parida was known to play negative roles in the films. He has acted in more than 100 Odia and Bengali films. His notable work includes movies like Singha Bahini (1998), Suna Bhauja (1994) and Mental (2014). He has received many awards for his work in cinema and Jatra, including Abhinandia Puraskar. Parida is also a recipient of the Odisha State Film Award.

Veteran Odia film actress Jharana Das: Noted actor Jharana Das (77), one of the finest actors of black and white film era, passed away at her residence in Cuttack on Dec 2, 2022. She had received the Jayadev Award from Odisha government for outstanding contributions to Odia film industry. People remember her performance in Odia films, theatre, radio drama and voice over art.

Born in 1945, Das started her acting career in the 60s and had won several accolades for her brilliant performance in landmark films like Shree Jagannath, Nari, Adinamegha, Hisabnikas, Pujafula, Amadabata, Abhinetri, Malajanha and Heera Nella.

Das had also worked as a child artist and announcer with the All India Radio (AIR), Cuttack. She had also worked as an assistant station director of Doordarshan in Cuttack. Her direction in the biographical documentary on former Odisha chief minister Harekrushna Mahtab was lauded by many.
