Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Thursday arrested an executive engineer of Badamba block in Cuttack district on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.
According to the Vigilance sleuths, Parida had demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a contractor for passing his pending bills. However, the contractor approached the Vigilance department and sought action against the accused engineer.
The anti-corruption agency today laid a trap and caught the accused official red-handed while he was taking the bribe.
The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of Parida. , said a Vigilance official.
Following the trap, the Vigilance sleuths conducted simultaneous raids at Parida’s office chamber, residence and other locations on charges of possessing disproportionate assets.
