Cops’ Fingers Bitten Off As Villagers’ Protest Turns Violent During Land Measurement

At least two police personnel sustained injuries after being attacked by a group of women belonging to Khamara Nuagaon village under Gurudijhatia police limits on Tuesday.

According to sources, the brawl broke out when the local tehsildar, police and Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) went to the village to carry out land demarcation.

The clash turned violent after the women of Dalit Sahi opposed the move and faced off with the police, sources informed.

According to reports, the local IIC Ranjan Kumar Pradhan and ASI Sakuntala Das of Athagarh police sustained injuries. They were shifted to the hospital for treatment while one platoon force led by Choudwar SDPO has been deployed to check further escalation of the situation.
