Odisha cabinet approves reforms in organisational structure of works department

Bhubaneswar, Sep 15 : The Odisha Cabinet on Friday approved reforms in organisational structure of the works department.
The State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also approved the expansion of Odisha engineering service and odisha diploma engineering service operating under the works department.

It also approved proposal for creation of 1273 new posts in different grades of Odisha Engineering Service and Odisha Diploma Engineering Service operating under the Works Department keeping in view the increase in the developmental works, both in terms of magnitude and variety,.

Besides, approval has been conferred on the proposal to bring some reforms in the organizational structure of the Works Department.
Official sources said the cabinet decision will cater to the needs of Technical Personnel in the organisations like OB&CC Ltd., IDCO, BDA, Odisha State Housing Board, Odisha State Police Housing & Welfare Corporation, Smart City Limited, Universities and Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department.

The restructuring will generate 166 direct employment in the rank of Asst. Executive Engineer in Odisha Engineering Service and that of 309 in the rank of Junior Engineer in Odisha Diploma Engineering Service.

Further, Promotional avenues of the existing Engineers shall be widened.
The restructuring will have an additional financial implication of approximately Rs58.60 Crore per annum for the state.
