Nirmala Sitharaman Envisions a Transformed India

In a motivational address at the graduation ceremony of Fatima Mata National College in Kollam, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, urged the youth of the nation to play a pivotal role in shaping a ‘Viksit Bharat’ or a Developed India by the year 2047. The event, held nearly 70 km from Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, saw the minister emphasizing the potential of the youth in propelling India’s development to new heights.

Sitharaman highlighted the eagerness of the youth to contribute to India’s progress and emphasized the importance of seizing the opportunities available to them. She encouraged students to align their skills with their aptitude, fostering a harmonious blend of personal passion and professional growth.

Acknowledging the era of the ‘Digital Revolution,’ the minister advised the students to navigate through the vast sea of information by selectively filtering credible, reliable, and legitimate sources. She underscored the significance of technological advancements in shaping the future and urged the youth to harness the power of digital tools for their personal and societal benefit.

While addressing the graduating students, Sitharaman emphasized the need for a positive and constructive mindset, urging them to become contributing members of society. She stressed the fusion of education with patriotism, suggesting that it would create eminent individuals capable of making meaningful contributions to the nation’s progress.

The Finance Minister highlighted the potential of each student to become a job creator in contemporary India. She cited examples from the space and atomic sectors, where the participation of the private sector has been instrumental. Sitharaman lauded Kerala’s significant contributions to India’s startup ecosystem, noting the state’s potential in areas such as the coastal sector, spice industry, and public awareness campaigns.

“Kerala has immense potential for startups in its coastal area, spice sector, and redressal of public awareness issues. Kerala is an important contributor to India’s Fintech industry and has good potential to become a knowledge hub for India,” she remarked.
