Man shot dead in Delhi over Rs 4K dispute, mob thrashes accused’s aides

New Delhi, May 8: A man was shot dead in the office of an advocate during an argument over Rs 4,000 in South East Delhi’s Govindpuri, said police on Monday.
The accused were known to the advocate, and  had come to discuss a matter. They, however, opened fire which led to the death of one man. A mob that gathered at the spot hearing the shots thrashed the aides of the accused, and a few onlookers were also mistakenly beaten up and their car damaged.
A senior police official said that a call was received at around 11:51 p.m. on Sunday night. The caller said one person had been shot in the office of advocate Sushil Gupta in Govindpuri. After receiving the call, a police team was sent to the spot.

The police said that Gupta’s office is on the first floor of the building.  “One Anas Ahmad was shot at. He was removed to Majeedia Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The car used by assailants was damaged and broken by the public after the firing incident,” the police said.
The police said that during the inquiry it was learnt that one Zafrool, another client of Gupta, was having a monetary dispute with one Syed Mukkim Raza over an amount of Rs 4,000.
Zafrool told Gupta to intervene. Meanwhile, accused Ankit, Mukim, Varun Bidhuri and Gulam Mohammed arrived at Gupta’s office on the pretext of discussing a matter.  Gupta’s acquaintance, Amit Mandra with his two aides also reached there.
“Later, a fight broke out, and upon hearing the commotion, several locals reached Gupta’s office. Seeing the crowd, Varun Bidhuri fired several shots inside the office out of which one shot hit Anas Ahmad who was declared brought dead in Majeedia hospital,” the police said.
Gulam Mohammed, the aide of the accused was caught by public and beaten, he was later rushed to AIIMS Trauma.
Amit, Varun, Mukim Raza and Varun managed to flee from the spot through roof top .
“After reaching the spot an extensive search was launched and two hours later Ankit and Mukim were caught hiding on the roof of a building.
The public also beat three other persons Yogesh Khatana, Ritesh Khatana and Naveen Bhati mistaking them to be associates of the assailants, however, they were only onlookers. Their car was also vandalised by the public.
“We have lodged an FIR and are conducting raids to nab Varun,” said the official.
