Odisha to deploy 14 customised vehicles for protection of Simlipal Tiger Reserve

Bhubaneswar, Dec 29(UPDATED) Odisha government has decided to deploy 14 customised vehicles 4 WD Bolero Campers for the protection of Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR).
PCCF office sources here said the vehicles will be deployed in sensitive areas particularly in core areas of the STR for use by Special Tiger Reserve Force, Joint Task Force and other frontline staff.
The four wheel drive vehicles fitted with winches will be helpful in rescue operation especially during monsoon. The vehicles will also be used for movement of front line staff, transport of camp equipment, carrying out patrolling at night and for transporting provision for the staff.
STR is home to 90 percent of tigers ,16 percent of leopards and 25 percent of elephants of Odisha. It has many special , rare, endangered , threatened, and vulnerable animals and plants.
The customised vehicles have been modified to suit the working environment inside the forest and efficiently carry out duty in all conditions.
